The Biggest Memory Booster

There is something you can do every single day that has been scientifically proven to improve your memory.  Don’t forget this tip!

Video Transcript:

Do you ever find yourself standing at the refrigerator, the door is open but you can’t remember what you wanted in the refrigerator?

Well today, I’m going to tell you something you can do to keep your memory working better, longer.

So a group of scientists studied 2000 people for 30 years, and what they found was that there are certain things we can do that really protect our memory, and of all those things, there was something that really stood out that had a big impact on how we can protect our memory. What do you think that was?

Walking. Just 30 minutes a day of walking had a staggering impact on how it protected people’s memories and if you think about it, it makes sense.

Think about our ancestors. Why would they go for a walk? They probably were looking for food. So our ancestors that went for a walk activated their brain and their memory and could remember how to get home. Well, they’re your ancestors. But the ones that went for a walk and didn’t activate their memory and couldn’t remember how to get home and got lost–they probably got eaten by a bear, and they’re not your ancestors.

So, walking is excellent for our memory and that is something to definitely remember.

Thanks for watching A Dose of Science!
